Aberdeen makes distribution leadership push

Distribution2Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed John Campbell, former chairman of Scottish Financial Enterprise and a State Street business head, as the firm expands the leadership of its global distribution platform.

Campbell starts in January as global head of strategic clients to focus on how the firm works more closely with its largest customers.

Campbell “led the Scottish financial community through the 2008 crisis” as chairman of Scottish Financial Enterprise, Aberdeen said, and he has spent the last 16 years at State Street, most recently as business head of global services UK, Middle East and Africa. He was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to the financial services industry.

Jeff Klepacki will join as head of distribution Americas, where Aberdeen manages around $65 billion (€61 billion). He has worked at Capital Group, Delaware Investments and Allianz Global Investors.

Antony John, former chief executive BNP Paribas Investment Partners/FundQuest, and Richard Pursglove, who has held senior distribution roles at a number of companies, will work on a consultancy basis with senior management focused on distribution strategy.

Campbell Fleming, global head of distribution at Aberdeen, said Aberdeen has to map its various asset class capabilities to the needs of its clients.

“The whole team globally is going to be focussed on doing this and these new appointments will really help those efforts.”
