FundsDLT and UBS AM complete blockchain pilot

Blockchain3Swiss fund manager UBS Asset Management and blockchain platform FundsDLT have completed a proof-of-concept that they claim confirms the viability of a blockchain-based distribution model.

The pilot, which also involved Swiss research firm i.AM Lab, used distributed ledger technology (DLT) to simulate the distribution process, from onboarding to settlement and transfer agency, on the FundsDLT platform.

According to Patric Huber, head of product strategy at UBS AM, the pilot “demonstrated the promising potential of distributed ledger technology in making the fund value chain more efficient, transparent and convenient for our clients across front, middle, and back offices”.

“Investors want an easier way to invest and asset managers need long-term solutions that enable them to transform their businesses and grow their investor base.,” added Olivier Portenseigne, CEO of FundsDLT.

“This requires new models that focus on seamless digital delivery, automation and process and operational efficiency.”
